If it's Neukölln,
Prenzlauer Berg, Kreuzberg or Mitte – the city's spirit is
represented by the people living in Berlin.
Best wishes from
Berlin is an inspirational
online magazine that shares the stories of creatives being influenced
by the city. Often compared to Paris in the 1920s or New York in the 1980s, the German capital
provides inspiration for its – international - inhabitants:
writers, musicians, creatives come from all over the world to get
inspired by Berlin.
By telling and moreover sharing stories of creative people - where they come from, how they came up with the idea of moving to Berlin and how everything evolved -, people like you and me can identify with and get inspired again. Whether you love living here, plan to move to Berlin or just dream about this city:
Here's to the celebration of Berlin's creative scene by sharing the city's stories.

When I could feel my
heartbeat while walking along Unter den Linden on a school trip many
years ago, I knew that it was my dream to one day live in Berlin.
Since then, I have eaten many a Currywursts and even more Doner
kebabs while living in Berlin now for about three coffee shop
openings long, based on the street I live in Neukölln.
At first, I
always dreamt about an apartment in Prenzlauer Berg with double doors
and herringbone-patterned parquet, but then I happened to find myself
with 50 other people in front of a house in Neukölln. New to the
city, I even asked a young mother in the supermarket if this was a
safe neighbourhood to live in. Looking back on that moment, I'll
never forget the expression the woman gave me when describing the
neighbourhood, the same exciting one I make when talking about the
Tempelhofer Feld nearby, a former airport which is a great scenery
for morning runs as well as the little Turkish supermarkets full of
food that will take years to try.
And then, as soon as I had to leave
Berlin for the first time, it became home to me: driving by the Alex
to spend a few days in the city I grew up, I was homesick and in love
with living in this city at the same time. Moving here in winter
(which I do not recommend!) and later being able to experience spring
in full bloom, Berlin showed me that even a lively city can still
wake up with the people living in it - and pop-up bakeries, street
food feasts and flea markets.
And so am I. Sitting here to share my
story, I search through some notes I took while attending a small
concert. The inspiration to create this online magazine came from
surrounding myself with creativity, through my moving to Berlin. As
of now, I still can't think of any other place to live and that can
cure my chocolate needs in the middle of the night at 'Späti'.
By
sharing stories by creatives on Best wishes from Berlin, Berlin is
even more a constant inspiration to me and I have the feeling that
this way, I give something back – a story collection of creatives
inspired by Berlin.
